Air Fryer Fruit Pies are an oil-free version of classic fried pies, or sometimes called hand pies. They cook up light and flaky in the Air Fryer. Choose your favorite fruit filling then top with a creamy vanilla glaze or vanilla ice cream for a winning weeknight dessert.
Yield: 8 FRIED PIES
Prep Time: 10 MINUTES
Cook Time: 15 MINUTES
Total Time: 25 MINUTES
✅ INGREDIENTS
- 1 pkg (14.1 oz) refrigerated pie crust
- 1 can (20 oz) pie filling, your choice of fruit
FOR GLAZE:
- 1 cup powdered sugar
- 1 tsp vanilla
- 2 Tbsp milk
✅INSTRUCTIONS
- Preheat Air Fryer to 360 degrees F. Soften pie crusts according to package directions.
- Remove pie crusts from package and place on top of each other. Use a pizza cutter or sharp knife to cut through both crusts into 8 squares (or squarish shapes). The pair of crusts that were cut together will be the top and bottom of each fruit pie.
- Working with the crusts for one pie at a time, spoon about 1 tablespoon of pie filling (*See note about pie filling in blog post) into the middle of each bottom crust. Use your hands to stretch the top crust just slightly and place it on top of the pie.
- Use a fork to crimp the edges of the pie crust so that the filling does not leak out.
- Place pies in a single layer in the basket of the Air Fryer. Cook 14-16 minutes, turning halfway through cooking.
- While pies are cooking, stir together powdered sugar, vanilla, and milk in a small bowl until it's a thin, pourable consistency.
- Drizzle over pies.

When you’re short on time and have a hungry family waiting to eat, using shortcut ingredients from the grocery store is a perfect compromise.
The refrigerated pie crusts from the grocery store have come a long way and taste a lot like homemade.
Of course, you can use your favorite pie crust recipe if you’d like.
You’ll need two pie crusts for this recipe.
If you only want four Fruit Pies, you can use one pie crust.
Just fold the pie crust in half before cutting it into four equal squares.
Now, you’re going to want the top and bottom crusts of your Fruit Pies to be the same size and shape so that you can seal the edges well.
This will prevent your filling from leaking out into your Air Fryer.
The easiest way to ensure that your top and bottom crusts are a matched set is to put your pie crusts on top of each other and cut them at the same time.
If you follow this diagram, you’ll end up with crusts for 8 Fruit Pies.

And did I mention that they’re delicious?
With these Air Fryer Fruit Pies, you’ll only use about a tablespoon of pie filling in each pie.
Since you’re using such a small amount of filling, you may want to cut the fruit into smaller chunks so that it’s easier to fit them into the pie crust.
I always cut up the fruit when I make peach fried pies or apple fried pies.
I have an easy way for you to cut the fruit smaller!
Just take a sharp knife and push it down into the can of fruit filling then make a few slices through the filling in the can.
Run a sharp knife through the pie filling in the can to cut the fruit smaller. Easy!
That’s really all there is to it. I feel like I’m not explaining it well, but it’s a great trick for these Fruit Pies.
They’re not perfect but they’re still pretty.
It’s important that you get the edges of your Fruit Pies sealed so that the filling won’t leak out.
I like to press the edges down with my finger then go back over it and crimp the edges with a fork.
I mentioned in the recipe but it’s helpful to stretch the top crust with your fingers just a bit before putting it on top of the Fruit Pie.
This helps make just a little bit of extra room for your filling.
I know I say this all the time, but it’s important that food is not crowded in the Air Fryer.
I have a Cozyna XL 5.8 QT Air Fryer and I can fit 4 Fruit Pies in the basket at one time.
I might have been able to fit one more pie in my basket but if I’m going to have to cook another batch, I may as well cook half the pies each time.
These pretty Air Fryer Fruit Pies cook up in about 14 – 16 minutes in the Air Fryer.
The glaze for these pretty pies are simply powdered sugar, milk, and a little bit of vanilla extract.
You don’t want your pies swimming in glaze so about a cup of powdered sugar will do it.
The glaze needs to be thin and pourable.
I just drizzle it on top of the Fruit Pies with a spoon and that’s all there is to it.
You can use any fruit filling that you’d like.
We made Cherry Pies and Apple Pies and they were both excellent.
Next time maybe I’ll try some Peach Pies. Or chocolate! Or lemon!
