These Apple Nachos are a fun and easy dessert for apple season.
Is apple picking a thing where you live? You can go apple picking then come home and dress up the fresh apples with this easy apple recipe.
We don’t have apple orchards where we live, but we still love to make these apple nachos.
My youngest son will only eat peeled apples so I usually peel them, but they are so pretty when you use red and green apples and leave the peeling on.
KEY TO SUCCESS #1 – USE LEMON JUICE TO PREVENT BROWNING
One of the keys to making apple nachos is using lemon juice to keep the apple slices from browning.
If you don’t have lemon juice, you can use lime juice or even Sprite or 7-Up.
If you’re concerned about your apples tasting lemony, you can also buy a fresh fruit preserver that you mix with water and use to coat your fruit.
The fruit preserver does not have a taste so you can use this in place of lemon juice.
I have used the Ball brand fresh fruit preserver and it works really well. I find it at my local big box store or you can get it on Amazon.
Try putting your apple slices into a medium-sized bowl then drizzle the mixture over them. Stir them around until they are well-coated.
I do not recommend skipping this step because your apple slices will brown very quickly.
After you have coated your apples to prevent browning, it’s time to arrange them on a serving tray.
You can either lay them out on a large tray and let everyone take some like you would with traditional nachos.
Or you can arrange the apple slices on individual plates and allow your guests to take a plate.
Use your creativity to arrange your apples in a circle or a different pattern if you choose.
Try to allow plenty of surface area so that you can get the toppings onto your apple slices.
If you are serving the apple nachos on individual plates, you could arrange the apples in a flower pattern on the plate.
For this fun Caramel Apple Nachos recipe, we’re using two different drizzles.
First, drizzle on your melted almond bark candy.
I prefer to melt my almond bark in the microwave and use a spoon to drizzle it onto the apple slices.
Next, drizzle on the caramel syrup.
I prefer the Ghirardelli brand caramel sauce, but you can use any brand that you like.
You’re looking for the ice cream topping that comes in a squeeze bottle.
Drizzle the caramel syrup onto the apples directly from the squeeze bottle.
You can also use the caramel sauce in the jar if that is all you have available, but it may be too thick to drizzle easily without clumping.
Finally, sprinkle on your favorite candies. I used mini chocolate chips and some mini M&Ms for a pretty and colorful look.
Try substituting holiday-themed sprinkles for the M&Ms to instantly transform your Apple Nachos into a dessert for your holiday party.
