Air Fryer Sausage Balls

Air Fryer Sausage Balls
Noah is 8 years old and he loves Sausage Balls.

I mixed up a double batch of Sausage Balls on Christmas Eve than baked a pan full on Christmas morning.

The rest went into the freezer for another cold morning.

Well, it’s the 10th day of January and all the Sausage Balls are gone.

Mike baked a batch on Saturday morning and Noah ate them for breakfast throughout the week.

It’s a great quick breakfast before school.

I wanted to see if I could come up with a recipe for Air Fryer Sausage Balls.

The idea was to make up a batch of Sausage Balls that could be frozen and then Mike could just pull out a few and pop them into the Air Fryer for Noah’s breakfast.

Well, the results were remarkable. The Air Fryer Sausage Balls are, perhaps, better than the original recipe.

HOW DO YOU MIX UP THE SAUSAGE BALLS?
I use a food processor to mix up the Sausage Balls.

It’s much easier to get the sausage, cheese, and baking mix incorporated if you use a food processor.

You can do this step by hand in a large bowl if you’d prefer.

I have a Kitchen Shark Blender/Food Processor combo that I use.

The exact model I have is probably about 8 years old and I can’t find it online, but it’s similar to this one.

I mix up half the recipe in the food processor at one time – 1/2 pound of breakfast sausage, 1/2 pound of Velveeta cheese, and 3/4 cup of Bisquick baking mix.

My food processor easily handles this amount of dough.

Much more than this and I have a hard time getting it mixed properly.

HOW DO YOU FREEZE SAUSAGE BALLS?
To freeze Sausage Balls, pinch off a walnut-sized bit of dough and roll it into a ball.

Place the rolled balls on a baking sheet covered with waxed paper.

If a baking sheet won’t fit into your freezer, you can use any other freezer-safe flat dish or even a cutting board.

Place the Sausage Balls on the baking sheet in the freezer for 1-2 hours until firm.

Once the Sausage Balls are firm, they can be transferred for a zip-top freezer bag for storage.

The Sausage Balls will stay fresh for 1-2 months in the freezer.

But good luck making them last that long because they are very delicious!

HOW DO YOU COOK SAUSAGE BALLS FROM FROZEN?
It’s very easy to cook Sausage Balls from frozen in the Air Fryer.

I tested cooking the Sausage Balls both from fresh and frozen and found that the cook time was essentially the same.

I have a Cozyna XL 5.8 QT Air Fryer and also the Cozyna Air Fryer Deluxe Accessory Pack that has some little pans and racks. (This Cozyna Air Fryer has a $10 off coupon on Amazon today! Great deal!)

Notice all the sausage and cheese bits in these Sausage Balls.

The Air Fryer Accessory Pack has a round baking pan that is perfect for cooking the Sausage Balls, but they can be cooked directly in the Air Fryer basket just as easily.

Either fresh or frozen, these Sausage Balls cook at 320 degrees F for about 10 minutes total.

Set the timer for 5 minutes then turn the Sausage Balls over and cook another 5 minutes.

The Sausage Balls turn out golden brown on the outside and soft and tender inside. YUM!

Is this too much honey? Nah!

WHAT DO YOU SERVE WITH SAUSAGE BALLS?
There are so many possibilities for dipping Sausage Balls.

My favorite dip is honey!

You could also use yellow mustard, maple syrup, pancake syrup, or even grape jelly.
