Melting Snowmen

Melting Snowmen

Melting Snowmen Pops are a super cute treat for your Christmas party this year. This is a great DIY food project to do with kids because they can customize their own snowman. There is nothing better than making Christmas memories with your kids in the kitchen.

Yield: 12 SNOWMEN

✅ INGREDIENTS

  • 16 oz white almond bark
  • 12 Oreo cookies
  • mini Oreo Cookies
  • Rolo candy
  • Twizzlers Pull 'n Peel
  • Pretzel sticks
  • Candy buttons
  • Sugar pearls
  • Carrot-shaped sprinkles
  • wooden skewer (optional)

✅ INSTRUCTIONS

  1. Place almond bark in a medium-sized microwave-safe bowl. Microwave on high power for 1 minute then stir well. Continue heating in 30-second intervals until almond bark is fully melted and smooth.
  2. Place Oreos a few inches apart on waxed paper. Spoon melted almond bark over each Oreo, making sure it is completely covered. Continue the melted almond bark about a 1/2-inch above the cookie and about 1 1/2 inches below the cookie.
  3. Lay a wooden skewer into the melted almond bark right below the Oreo. Turn the skewer over so that it is fully coated in melted almond bark. Spoon additional almond bark over the skewer to cover it if needed.
  4. Separate the strands of the Twizzlers Pull 'n Peel candy. Wrap one strand around the Oreo cookie and cross the ends like a scarf.
  5. Open one of the mini Oreo cookies and place a dab of melted almond bark on the side with the filling. Place a Rolo on top of the melted almond bark to form the Snowman's hat. Put the hat on the upper part of the Oreo cookie, either sitting up straight or laying down as if the hat slid off the Snowman's head when he melted.
  6. Put two sugar pearls of the same color and a carrot sprinkle nose on the Oreo.
  7. Put two pretzel sticks for the Snowman's arms.
  8. Place three candy buttons down the front of the Snowman's shirt
  9. Allow to cool and harden for 1 hour before removing from wax paper

Melting Snowmen

My kids loved helping me make Snowman pops this year.

I love to see their creativity as they put their own special spin on projects.

They come up with such cute ideas that are different than the way I originally planned for things to go.
Melting Snowmen

KEY TO SUCCESS #1 – GATHER YOUR SUPPLIES FIRST
Before you start making your Snowman, you’ll want to gather up all your supplies and have them ready to go.

The body of the Snowman is made with melted white chocolate almond bark so you will want to have all your supplies ready to go so that you can add them before the almond bark hardens.

  1. Oreo cookie for the Snowman’s head – Any variety!
  2. Dark colored Sugar Pearls for the Snowman’s eyes – Sometimes these are called Jumbo Nonpareils
  3. Carrot-shaped Sprinkles for the Snowman’s nose – You can find these in Easter sprinkles mixes
  4. Rolos + Mini Oreo Cookies for the Snowman’s hat – Use melted almond bark to stick them together
  5. Twizzlers Pull ‘n Peel for the Snowman’s scarf – Separate Twizzlers into a single strand
  6. Pretzel rods for the Snowman’s arms – Find matching pairs of pretzels
  7. Candy buttons for the buttons on the Snowman’s shirt – Use three buttons of any single color
  8. Mini candy canes or other candy for decorations
  9. Wooden skewers (optional)
Make sure you have your ingredients lined up before you melt the almond bark.

Take your time separating the strands of the Twizzlers Pull ‘n Peel candy so that they don’t break.

KEY TO SUCCESS #2 – COVER THE OREO COMPLETELY
The Snowman starts with a simple Oreo Cookie for the head.

Place the Oreo cookie towards the top of a sheet of waxed paper so that you will have plenty of time to work.

Melt the almond bark in a microwave-safe bowl in the microwave by heating for 1 minute then stir well.

Continue heating in 30-second increments until the almond bark is melted and completely smooth.

Use a spoon to spread the melted almond bark all over the Oreo, allowing it to cascade over the side.

Continue adding more almond bark about 1/2-inch above the Oreo and about 1 1/2 inches below the Oreo.

The snowman’s body should be an irregular oval shape like the snowman just melted.

Before you continue, make sure the Oreo is completely covered.

Use the spoon to add a bit more almond bark if there are any bare spots.

KEY TO SUCCESS #3 – GIVE THE SNOWMAN A HAT
The Snowman’s hat is an important part of his overall look.

We’re making the hat using a mini Oreo cookie and a Rolo candy.

Gently separate the two sides of the Oreo cookie. We will use the side that has the cream filling on it.

Place a dab of melted almond bark on the TOP of the Rolo candy then press it down on the cream filling side of the mini Oreo.

The cream filling will look like a bit of snow still on the Snowman’s hat.

You can set the hat up straight on the Snowman’s head or tilt it like it’s sliding off.

We did some of both and we think they both turned out super cute!

Which hat is your favorite? Let us know in the comments.
